Learning Serak®

by MaHa Guru Victor deThouars

As the years have gone past many moons and years. It was a great weekend for my Brother Willem to have visited our humble home. Walking the Djoeroes together as little children again we displayed an eager lust for learning. As we trained in great depth on the Tiga as the beginner tool, to the massive advanced Langkas, such as the Pantjar, Lima, Sangsot, empat, and much of the weekend was devoted to shear hard training.

It is refreshing to feel the hunger again in learning what the Djoeroes teach and the many of Platforms in Sera-Serak. His own Kuntaw was like a complement in the tenacity in where it exists.

Sometimes just training and discovering new horizons brings a person back to the beginnings. Langka Empat was a devestating experience again in teaching and practicing for hours, where the low postures kills the knees and back.

It is amazing that at sixty-four my brother has such an energy that would put many to shame. The Langka Sangsot and Sodok was the ultimate finishing training period.  Both langka's mentioned of course belonging to the main Langka Lima.

Breaching of the "Gap" or the unknown, is what the progressive Langka Lima is known for. The section were Langka Empat displays a tremendous agony for the opponent.    It is an honor to train with my brother Willem and my Wife Jane, and share with the both of them the awesome system of Silat Sera-Serak that I have   loved for so many years.
